Peru will be the host nation for the next World Avocado Congress (WAC) in 2015, according to Peruvian Hass Avocado Producers’ Association (ProHass) and reported by AgroNegociosPeru Magazine.

The deal was agreed during the 7th edition of the event, held in Australia on 5-9 September, following bids from Peru, Colombia and the US.

“The goal is big and we want to organise the best world congress yet – we have the conditions to do it,” ProHass general manager Arturo Medina told AgroNegociosPeru Magazine.

Prohass has been working on a marketing strategy for some time in an effort to win over the support of World Avocado Congress attendees, according to Medina.

To that end, the Peruvian delegation positioned the image of Peru among thousands of people participating in the Australia congress, including producers, exporters, importers and researchers.

The World Avocado Congress is held every four years and presents an opportunity for the avocado industry to come together to share news and experiences.
