Asia Fruit Logistica 2011 opening

Asia Fruit Logistica, the region's leading fresh produce trade show, is to move to a new state-of-the art exhibition centre for 2012 as it popularity and growth continues to soar.

The new venue, the AsiaWorld-Expo, is located next to Hong Kong International Airport and boasts strong transport links to Hong Kong city centre – which is 25 minutes by train – and to key cities in mainland China.

The venue is seen as a 'natural progression' for Asia Fruit Logistica and Asiafruit Congress, the conference event organised by Asiafruit Magazine that runs alongside the trade show, as it allows both events to grow organically alongside the booming Asian market.

'Now more than ever, the fresh produce business in Asia is really starting to pick up momentum, and will continue to develop as a most attractive market for fresh fruits and vegetables,' said Gérald Lamusse, managing director of event organiser Global Produce Events GmbH.

This year's event saw 332 exhibitors from 33 different countries showcasing their products and services, representing an increase of 10 per cent on last year and growth of 186 per cent on 2007.

The 2011 event also attracted a third more visitors than the previous year, with 5,358 visitors from 63 different countries looking to source the best the Asian market has to offer.
