Seatrade on ship

Seatrade has announced the launch of a new service for direct refrigerated cargo, Caribanex, which will begin in week 18 and is designed to service existing and new customers on its Colorica and Seaban lines.

According to the group, Caribanex will offer the same connections as the two original services, while the change will enable the shipping group to utilise larger and more efficient specialised reefer vessels in order to 'sustain the highest specialised reefer service levels in challenging times'.

Clients will continue to enjoy reliable direct connections from Turbo, Santa Marta and Moin to Dover, Flushing (Vlissingen) and Hamburg for bananas and tropical fruit, the group explained, with shorter transit times from Costa Rica to Flushing and a new direct link from Santa Marta to Hamburg.

The service will continue to be offered in close cooperation with the specialised terminals of Hammonds' in Dover, ZZColdstores in Flushing and HHLA in Hamburg.

The first Caribanex vessel will be the mv Chiquita Bremen, due at Turbo on 3 May, with the first scheduled arrival in Dover slated for 20 May,
