Blueberries

Chile has gained access to the South Korean blueberry market in a move that will boost the South American country’s agricultural exports to the Asian island nation, according to local reports.

The news was announced by Chilean President Sebastián Piñera, who said the agreement will come into effect on 15 July, La Tercera explained in its report.

Chile's agricultural minister Luis Mayol said the deal, which also includes access for Chilean red meat exports, will help to grow Chile’s agricultural and forestry sales to Korea, which registered some US$14bn in 2011.

The Chilean Ministry of Agriculture has also announced that Chilean avocados, bovine, sheep and goat meat exports are expected to be approved entry to China this week when Chineseprime minister Wen Jiabao visits Chile.
