Florida-based fresh citrus exporter DNE plans to consolidate its international sales and marketing operations into a single company, DNE International, which will handle all its sales of fresh grapefruit to buyers in Europe and Asia.
Speaking in the August issue of Eurofruit, the new company's president and chief operating officer JJ Gilet confirmed the new entity – based in Fort Pierce, Florida – had been officially formed on 1 July.
'The new company will enable us to improve our service to our customers worldwide and to maximize returns to our growers,' he said.
DNE packs and markets around 7m cartons of fresh grapefruit every year, sourcing primarily its own fruit but also contracting from affiliated growers in Florida, while also procuring smaller volumes from Texas and California.
The business also has strong ties with suppliers in Mexico, notably Proagro.
