OTC-USA, the subsidiary of European organic specialist OTC Holland, is set to expand its organic offer on the US market on the back of the signing of the equivalency agreement between the US and the European Union.

“It means we can set up new import lines without separate certification or extensive paperwork,” vice-president Marco Brakee told Americafruit.

The group is about to start importing 1lb bagged organic kiwifruit from Italy for a US-based customer.

This winter OTC-USA will also be selling Italian organic tangerines and blood oranges in the US.

The two new product lines follow OTC-USA’s success with a new organic Spanish melon programme which the company set up during the summer.

OTC-USA has doubled its sales volume over the past two years and now the group is acquiring more clients in Canada.

The full report is published in the October/November issue of Americafruit Magazine.
