National Mango Board new logo

Seven new members have been appointed to the National Mango Board by US Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, including three overseas growers, three domestic importers and a domestic producer.

The foreign appointees are Jorge Eustacio Perez Calderon of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico; Reynaldo Hilbck of Miraflores, Piura, Peru; and Altamir Guilherme Martins of Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil, while from the US Kenneth Nabal of Idaho Falls, ID; Christopher A. Ciruli of Tubac, AZ.; and Jiovani Guevara of Monterey, CA will join the board. All six will serve three-year terms beginning on 1 January 2014. Domestic producer Jean Sapp of Lehigh Acres, Fla., will complete a two-year term of office that begins immediately.

The NMB is one of 20 research and promotion boards authorised by Congress, to enable growers to jointly fund marketing and research programmes for the industry.
