Limoneirahas reported its financial results for the third quarter (Q3) of the 2015 fiscal year (ending 31 July), with total revenue coming in at US$29.8m, down from US$35.2m over the corresponding period of 2014.

Revenue for Limoneira’s agribusiness division was US$28.5m, compared to US$35.3m in Q3 2014, with the Californian-based company attributing the fall to lower lemon and avocado sales.

Lemon sales contribute US$23.9m to the Q3 performance, down on US$26.8m last year. Avocado revenue fell 50 per cent from US$6.1m in Q3 2014, to US$3m in 2015.

“Third quarter of fiscal year 2015 avocado sales were impacted by a shift in production and harvest time due to the company’s decision to accelerate its harvest plan due to early maturing of the Californian crop and the expected arrival of Peruvian avocados in the US market in June 2015,” the company said in a statement issued via Market Watch.

Limoneira completed its 2015 avocado harvest in July, with total revenue from the season coming in at US$7.1m, compared to US$7.3m in 2014.
