Camposol blueberries to Canada

Camposol claims to have carried out the first shipment of Peruvian blueberries to Canada following the recent opening of the market. In a press release, the company said it had dispatched its first container to the Canadian market on 22 September.

“This achievement was made possible after Peru completed the phytosanitary information requested by the Canadian authorities for authorising the dispatch of the first containers to this country,” the company said in a press release.

“This is an important milestone for the national agro-industry and opens the doors to other small and medium exporters to project to more markets.”

The consignment was dispatched from the company’s office in Chao and was overseen by Senasa, who Camposol thanked for supporting the development of the sector.

“We are proud of being the first exporters of Peruvian blueberries to Canada: this achievement, which is not only Camposol’s but Peru’s, fills us with satisfaction,” said Javier Morales, the company’s general manager for fruits and vegetables.

Peru is expected to have around 3,000ha under blueberry production by 2018.
