Apples and pears from leading US grower-exporter Stemilt Growers were a point of attraction at Karen Anand's Farmers Market in Kolkatta over the weekend, according to Sanjay Arora, director of IG International.

Sold in four-piece prepacks, Arora said customers enjoyed sampling Stemilt’s fruit, with a steady stream of sales eventuating.

IG International, Stemilt’s Indian import partner, ran a similar promotion at a farmers market in Mumbai earlier this year, with the company also intending to set up a stall at a market in Bangalore in December. The Bangalore event will see the launch of Stemilt’s mascot Snappy.
