Costco Wholesale has recalled an Organic Vegetable Medley due to possible Listeria contamination.
Branded Organic by Nature, the product may be a “possible risk to health” due to the Listeria bacteria that can cause food poisoning. It has been recalled as a precautionary measure.
The product was on sale in 2.5kg packs with a 'best before' date of 7 February 2017.
“If you have any of this product at home and it has not been consumed please destroy it, you may obtain a full refund on your next trip to a Costco warehouse for a full refund,” said Costco’s food safety director, Pauleen Stallard.
The recall is part of an expanded move by US firm CRF Frozen Foods, which recently recalled all frozen organic and traditional fruit and vegetable products manufactured or processed in its Pasco facility, in Washington, since 1 May 2014.
The expanded recall covers around 358 products sold under 42 separate brands, including organic and non-organic broccoli, butternut squash, carrots, cauliflower, corn, edamame, green beans, Italian beans, kale, leeks, lima beans, onions, peas, pepper strips, potatoes, spinach, sweet potatoes, various vegetable medleys, blueberries, cherries, cranberries, peaches, raspberries, and strawberries.
