Post of Los Angeles terminals containers cargo

The Port of Los Angeles handled over 770,400 TEUs last month, making it the busiest May in the port’s 109-year history.

The performance was nearly an 11 per cent improvement on the overall cargo volume handled by the port during the same period last year.

The May figures follow an upward trend for the port, with container volumes over the first five months of 2016 up 8.7 per cent compared to 2015.

“The strong growth both on the import and export side is encouraging as we continue to explore ways to improve supply chain efficiencies,” said Port of Los Angeles executive director Gene Seroka. “The unwavering efforts of our supply chain partners, including organized labor, has had a significant impact on our success.”
