Cherry launch

The cherry campaign was launched at Asiafruit Congress

Asiafruit continues its series of exhibitor spotlights from Asia Fruit Logistica with a look at a number of industry-led promotional campaigns emerging out of Chile.

Chilean Hass Avocado Committee

In addition to its comprehensive range of online promotional activities, the Chilean Hass Avocado Committee will once again run its offline campaign visiting restaurants in major Chinese cities to persuade chefs to incorporate Chilean avocados in their menus.

Chilean Blueberry Committee

Chilean blueberries will be available in select specialist stores in India from October, marking the culmination of a decade of negotiations between the two countries. Chilean Blueberry Committee president Andrés Armstrong has just concluded a commercial visit to Delhi and Mumbai where he met with importers and retailers to discuss plans for the season ahead.

Chilean Cherry Committee

Chile’s new US$5m cherry consumer campaign in China will be the biggest yet, running in 48 cities and covering a wide range of activities spanning the major distribution channels. Christian Tagle of the Chilean Cherry Committee said faster shipping routes have slashed transit times to Hong Kong and Shanghai and more work now needs to be done to develop new routes to central and northern China.

San Jorge Packaging

Around 80 per cent of the cherries that Chile ships to China are packed in San Jorge Packaging’s modified atmosphere bags. Alejandra de Witt said the first-time exhibitor decided to go to Hong Kong to raise brand awareness and demonstrate to importers and distributors how to properly handle the fruit.
