The Chilean Fruit Exporters Association (ASOEX) has showcased a number of the country’s fresh produce offerings to China’s food service sector.
Cherries, blueberries and avocados took centre stage during the Latin American nation’s participation at the Food and Hotel China (FHC China) 2017 trade exhibition in Shanghai earlier this week.
The fruits were being promoted during the event through product tastings and gastronomy competitions. Chilean chef Ricardo Gonzalez also ran a number of cooking demonstrations, which incorporated several original recipes developed especially for the event.
“This included duck salad with cherries, blueberry and feta cheese salad, mussels in green salsa and avocado salad,” explained ASOEX director of marketing for Europe and Asia, Christian Carvajal.
“This is the first time that our sector, via the Blueberry, Cherry and Avocado Committees, has developed a cross-sector promotion in collaboration with Patagonia Mussels, Wines of Chile and ProChile.”
ASOEX’s participation at FHC China is part of a series of initiatives that Chile is undertaking to consolidate its position as a leading supplier of fruits to China, and to encourage greater consumption of Chilean produce.
