Kylie Horomia Waybeyond

New Zealand-headquartered WayBeyond has appointed Kylie Horomia as its new head of industry transformation.

Darryn Keiller, chief executive and founder of WayBeyond, said Horomia will drive the long-term sustainability strategy of the newly-formed company.

“Kylie is a passionate and respected communications specialist and industry advocate, who has provided the next level of thinking around our story and will begin working on our long-term global sustainability strategy,” said Keiller.

“This includes ensuring we deliver on the United Nations sustainable development goals and formalising and extending the work we have been doing on industry education, connecting the ecosystem and our own graduate and internship program.”

Keiller said addressing issues such as zero waste, clean water and sanitation, sustainable infrastructure, industries and cities would take collaboration and creativity and ushering in a new generation of farmers, scientists, and technologists is part of the solution.

“With our WayBeyond team based in New Zealand, the Netherlands and United States and employees from 15 cultures; we celebrate our diversity, which critically includes the diversity of thinking required to solve the world’s greatest food production challenges,' explained Keiller.

Horomia comes to the position with 20 years of experience in communications as nearly ten years in the horticulture industry with roles at T&G Global and most recently with Autogrow where she was head of brand and communications.

“I’m very excited about this new opportunity. Ag-tech is an amazingly fast-paced industry to be in and the work we are doing to grow food sustainably using science and technology is something of which I am incredibly proud,” said Horomia.

“I will continue to promote the inclusion of Stem disciplines to reduce food waste, increase efficiency of natural resources, and make a positive impact on growers, the environment and communities we operate within.”
