PakSense, a developer of sensory solutions for packaging, is to launch of a wireless version of its popular temperature-monitoring label in December.

Called the PakSense Ultra, the label allows users to wirelessly download time and temperature information and analyze data before unloading a truck or container.

According to a company release, a reading device is able to collect data from a PakSense label if it is within a 300ft line of sight range or approximately a 60ft obstructed range. Information from as many as fifteen labels can be captured from a single download.

“We focused on making this product easy to use,” said chief executive officer David Light. “There are no repeaters, gateways or other costly infrastructure investments required. We believer this uncomplicated approach will resonate with our customers.'

The labels are flat and encased in waterproof, food-grade packaging, taking up less space and boasting a lower carbon footprint than competing products, the group said.
