Enza Jazz apple

Enza International has reported that exports of Jazz apples are set to climb over the 1m-carton barrier this year, following a season that has produced a bumper crop of fruit that has proved to be in 'great condition' for delivery to Northern Hemisphere markets.

The current Northern Hemisphere apple season is experiencing price pressure from record harvests, the group said, but Jazz has still maintained price levels and a 'significant premium' over commodity apple varieties on the back of volumes that are doubling annually.

'Jazz has rapidly been embraced by international buyers due to an outstanding flavour profile, crunch, transportability and storage characteristics,' Enza said in a statement. 'Jazz has set a new benchmark for apple quality globally and pricing returns to growers are reflecting this.'

The group said that it has now achieved year-round supply of Jazz apples to major Northern Hemisphere retailers, with New Zealand's growing season supplemented by licensed growers in the overseas.
