US-based Produce Pro Software has announced that it is 'poised and ready' to help its users embrace the milestones set forth in the Produce Traceability initiative (PTI).

The integrated software and technology solutions specialist, which counts a number of fresh produce groups amongst its user base, said that it is confident that hitting PTI targets will be attainable for businesses of any size with Produce Pro's help.

'Many of the companies in our family have been tracking at a granular level for many years now and can immediately pull up a detailed history for any product,' said group president David Donat at the company's user group conference in Las Vegas. 'In that sense, they are ready fore the next step. What we want to do now is help them prepare to connect those dots to others in the supply chain by achieving the PTI milestones.

'We want them to tackle this now, on their own schedules, rather than rushing to implement on deadline if laws are eventually passed,' he added.

Produce Pro, which offers a fully-integrated warehouse management system, has made tracing methods such as barcoding affordable and scaleable for any business, according to Mr Donat, bringing immediate benefits through cutting costs and improving service.

'We believe that getting these tools and processes into place now will give Produce Pro users an even greater competitive advantage,' Mr Donat said.
