A new survey conducted by the National Restaurant Association (NRA) in the US has suggested that the prospects for the country's foodservice industry are looking their best for some time.

Using the organisation's Restaurant Performance Index, the NRA revealed its highest overall score for 11 months and its highest outlook score in 18 months, according to The Packer.

The index score stood at 98.6 for April, continuing a steady climb over the past four months and its highest point for nearly a year.

However, traffic through restaurants continued to fall, with only 23 per cent of operators reporting a year-on-year increase in customers and 60 per cent reporting a drop.
