Maxco Supply has announced that it will launch its new distribution facility this week following a two-year development programme, with the centre set to take over as the group's South Valley Distribution hub.

The US packaging designer-manufacturer has made a 'significant investment' in the facility, which is located in Delano, California and covers 4ha with the potential for future expansion.

Features of the centre include faster and more efficient loading and unloading, additional forming machines and increased storage and overall capacity, with the entire 50-person staff from the current Delano location transferring to the new facility.

'After several years in development and lots of hard work, Maxco is very excited to show our new flagship facility to the industry,' said Mark Fleming, vice-president of sales and operations at Maxco Supply. 'Our goal is to position ourselves for the future, with the most up-to-date and modern facility in the Central Valley.'

The seasonal yard will primarily serve the Bakersfield area including Delano, Earlimart and McFarland, and is specifically designed to handle grape boxes and supplies.

The group will launch the facility to the industry this week by hosting a Grand Opening Barbeque on 17 June, with staff and media expected to attend.

'We want everyone to see what Maxco has invested so much time, energy and money into, as we believe this amazing new distribution hub will help keep us at the forefront of the industry,' said Mr Fleming.
