California Giant

California Giant Berry Farms has announced in a press release its partnership with HSBC to support the bank’s Wimbledon 2009 tennis tournament festivities, which will run for a full week at the Rockefeller Center in New York on 22-26 June.

California Giant will donate 75,000 strawberries for the public to enjoy at strawberries and cream carts in the HSBC outdoor viewing area. Representatives from California Giant will also provide healthy eating advice to children from the City Parks Foundation at a 23 June tennis clinic, where tennis legend Jim Courier will teach the young players.

“The opportunity to participate in this exciting week of activities here in New York City really helps to reinforce our messaging at California Giant about the importance of combining diet and exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle,” said Bill Moncovich, president and CEO at California Giant Berry Farms. “As a grower-shipper of fresh berries, we are proud to contribute to the health of American consumers by providing abundant, healthy and delicious products.”

Throughout the week, HSBC partnerships with Ralph Lauren and California Giant Berry Farms will give fans a taste of all Wimbledon has to offer.

HSBC will also bring the tournament into people’s homes, with its sponsorship of Tennis Channel coverage and original programming. Tennis Channel will also run 30-second spots during Wimbledon coverage to promote California Giant strawberries and the national sweepstakes partnership.

The California Giant sweepstakes began on 1 June running through 31 July. For the second year in a row, the two brands will appear together on California Giant clamshells, point-of-sale and trade advertising and online. The grand prize for “The Sweetest Match” is a trip to Wimbledon in 2011.
