The Irvine, US-based California Avocado Commission has announced that interim president Tom Bellamore has taken on the job on a full-time basis.
Mr Bellamore, who had occupied the role since May 2008, was previously senior vice-president and corporate counsel of the group, according to a report by The Packer.
He stepped into the role when previous incumbent Mark Affleck resigned to pursue other interests following a 20-year spell with the Commission.
'I think after working as interim president, he came to feel he can really make a difference,' Rick Shade, chairman of the Commission's board told the publication. 'I think he welcomes the challenge.
