Del Monte Fresh Produce has announced in a press release the addition of single finger bananas to the company’s expanding on-the-go healthy snack line for the North American convenience, foodservice, catering and vending channels.
The so-called Del Monte Natural Energy Snack On the Go will be packed in the Del Monte’s recently launched Controlled Ripening Technology (CRT) packaging, which can extend shelf-life by up to five days, maintain optimal quality and reduce labor.
“Del Monte understands that today’s consumers are increasingly reluctant to sacrifice their healthy eating habits for the sake of convenience,” said Dennis Christou vice-president of marketing for North America.
“The Del Monte Natural Energy Snack On the Go single finger CRT banana offers both,” Mr Christou explained. “This proprietary packaging allows customers in the convenience, foodservice, catering and vending channels to bring to their consumers premium quality Del Monte bananas without having to sacrifice profits due to high shrink and increasing labor costs.”
The single finger CRT banana is available in a 40lb bulk box, 40lb “Quad-Pack”, or 10lb display ready box and features a scanable bar code for easy check out. Stand-up counter displays are also available.
