Naturipe Farms has announced the appointment of produce industry veteran Dwight Ferguson as its new chief executive officer and president, a role that he will take up on 4 January 2010.

Mr Ferguson will join the berry producer-marketer from greenhouse vegetable specialist Eurofresh Inc, where he has operated as CEO since 2003.

'In this role Dwight will be responsible for the successful day-to-day management, growth and sustainability of Naturipe Farms,' said Rich Amirsehhi, chairman of the board of directors and interim CEO at the group. 'Working with the grower partners on the board of directors, Dwight will lead the organisation to determine business strategies, establish strategic long and short-term priorities and direct an experienced management team and dedicated staff in achieving those goals and objectives.'

Mr Ferguson, who has previously held leading roles at Florimex Worldwide and Florimex International BV, said that he was delighted to have agreed the move to Naturipe.

'I've been fortunate in my career to work for great industry-leading companies, and without question, I consider Naturipe Farms to be all that and more in the berry business,' he said.
