Despite a veto by US president George Bush, who claimed that the newly approved Farm Bill would merely subsidise multimillionaire US farmers, Senators voted 82-13 in favour of passing the bill. 'Fourteen of the fifteen titles of this bill are now the law of the land,' said Tom Harkin, Iowa Democrat and chairman of the Agriculture Committee.
