Chiquita Fresh North America has this week revealed that it is to partner with video game giant Sega in a nationwide campaign promoting the new Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll game for the Nintendo Wii console.

As part of the agreement, over 180m Chiquita bananas in supermarkets across the US will feature special stickers to promote the game in February, with Chiquita bananas in turn appearing in select sequences in the game itself.

Meanwhile, Sega and Chiquita have also announced the introduction of a banana sweepstakes to support the promotion, with consumers entering online at www.chiquitabananas.com in a bid to win prizes, including a family gaming room makeover.

'Chiquita is excited to partner with Sega to help families play together and support healthy living,' said Craig Stephen, vice-president and general manager of North America Bananas. 'We're thrilled to have (game characters) AiAi and MeeMee on our bananas to encourage nutritious eating and a fit lifestyle among kids and families.'
