peru mangoes

Japan has officially opened its market to fresh Peruvian mangoes following just under two years of negotiations, according to a press release from the Peruvian Embassy in Japan.

Peru’s National Service of Agrarian Health (Senasa) and Japan’s Agriculture Ministry are still determining the exact export procedures to ensure fruit satisfies Japanese quality and packaging standards.

The move is expected to have a positive impact on Peru’s mango export industry, particularly in terms of employment in the north of the South American country.

Shortly, Senasa and the Peruvian Mango Exporters Association (APEM) will coordinate a visit from a representative of Japan’s Agriculture Ministry in order to organise the procedures for the first shipment of fruit.
