World Fruit & Vegetable Show

Green World Exhibitions has announced the appointment of Professor JohnMoverley OBE to work with the team organising the 2008 World Fruit& Vegetable Show, which takes place atthe ExCeL Exhibition Centre in London on 8-9 October 2008.

ProfessorMoverley, who recently completed his term of office as chief executiveof the Royal Agricultural Society of England, has had along and successful career in commercial and educational roles withinthe land-based and food sector. He has also worked with a range of local, regional and national committeesand bodies.

He will focus on the developmentof key parts of the show, particularly its new programme of forums andseminars, which will run over the two-day event. He will also assist inthe promotion of the show and in attracting new specialist exhibitors,from both the commercial and education sectors.

John Moverley World Fruit & Vegetable Show'The fruit andvegetable industry is a very important one and I will be working withthe organisers to develop this event and increase its value and focuson key issues facing the sector at present,' said Professor Moverley.

'Amongthe subjects we will be tackling in our forums are food miles, the UK government's PEACH certificate system, exporting guidelines, organic technology and plastic packaging development,' he revealed. 'We will also focus on how current issuesin terms of the supply of credit and oil prices impact on producerdecisions and the consequent impact on the retail market.'

JohnMoverley will also host his own forum at the show looking at the competingpressures for land and how issues arising from this impact on both theprice and supply of fruit and vegetables.

TheWorld Fruit & Vegetable Show is aimed at buyers and suppliers fromall sectors of the produce industry, including retail, processing, foodservice and wholesale.
