Canada pear guide

The Quebec Produce Marketing Association (QPMA), in partnership with the US Pear Bureau Northwest, has launched a ‘Coup de cœur pour les poires!’ pear guide, according to a press release from the organisation.

The tool, the fourth in a series of product guides to be published by the QPMA, is aimed at increasing awareness of and appreciation of the fruit as part of the association’s consumption campaign ‘I love 5 to 10 servings a day’.

The ‘Coup de cœur pour les poires!’ guide offers consumers a range of facts, including nutritional values, tips, recipes and other information compiled by Julie DesGroseilliers, dietitian nutritionist and spokesperson for the ‘I love 5 to 10 servings a day’ campaign.

“In addition to promoting cardiovascular health, pears can play an important role in helping to maintain optimal intestinal regularity,” Ms DesGroseilliers said.

“This handy little guide will convince any reader that pears are a delicious and nutritious food and very easy to prepare. It’s a simple way to rediscover a great product you can enjoy all year long.”

Launched by the QPMA in 2004, the ‘I love 5 to 10 servings a day’ campaign is designed to educate consumers on the importance of eating fruits and vegetables as part of a healthy lifestyle and to increase the sale of fruits and vegetables for the benefit of its members.
