Earthcycle Packaging

Earthcycle Packaging and Illinois retailer Sunset Foods, in conjunction with Indianapolis Fruit Company, have joined forces to supply customers with fresh produce packaged in Earthcycle’s backyard compostable products to celebrate Earth Day on 22 April.

In addition to using Earthcycle’s eco-conscious palm fiber trays, which decompose naturally within 90 days, accompanying in-store merchandising will also educate consumers on the importance of sustainable thinking, and what each person can do to make an important difference in sustainability.

“What started as a simple idea to pool all three companies’ resources in an effort to support Earth Day and bring about real environmental change has certainly taken off, with excitement surrounding the promotion growing daily,” Earthcycle said in a press release.

“This early interest supports studies that show today’s consumers actually seek out “green” products, and are eager to learn more about how their buying choices can have a positive impact on the environment.”

All three companies said they could not be happier with the initial response from consumers, adding that working together felt like a natural fit from the onset.

“Sunset Foods is always looking for ways to make a difference in the world around us. So when our supplier Indianapolis Fruit Company approached us about linking up with Earthcycle, we were very excited,” explained Vince Mastromauro, Sunset Foods Produce & Floral Director.

“What better way to celebrate than by providing helpful information while at the same time introducing a new, revolutionary type of packaging to our customers that promotes all the principles that Earth Day stands for.”
