Argentina and China are negotiating a trade protocol which will permit entry for the South American country’s apples and pears.
Phytosanitary officials from both nations met on 7-8 April in Beijing, China, according to a report by Argentina’s National Service for Agrifood Health and Quality (Senasa).
During the meeting, the parties agreed on the phytosanitary requirements in order for the country’s apples and pears to be exported to China.
Other matters were also discussed, including talks to establish a risk analysis for the export of Argentinean blueberries, cherries and table grapes to China.
The Argentinean delegation included Carlos Cheppi, the Special Ambassador for agricultural issues; Senasa vice-president, Carlos Paz; the national director of Pest Surveillance and Monitoring Agency, Paul Cortese; and Bernardo Cosentino from the area of Epidemiological Service.
