liner shipping

Container shipping line NYK has formed a new alliance with Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) to link Asia with Hawaii, Mexico, and the west coast of South America, the Manila Bulletin has reported.

The new service will replace NYK's current ALEX-Neo service with two new weekly, fixed-day strings. ALEX-1 will link Asia with Mexico, Peru, and Chile, while ALEX-2 will link Asia with Hawaii, Mexico, Colombia, and Ecuador.

The companies will deploy mainly 4,200-4,800 TEU nominal vessels for ALEX-1, and 2,500 TEU nominal vessels for ALEX-2, to ensure demand can be met in what is a rapidly growing trade lane.

Meanwhile, NYK will continue to independently operate its MAREX-Neo service linking Asia, Los Angeles, Mexico, and the west coast of Central America.
