The Oppenheimer Group has appointed long-standing company member Nolan Quinn to lead its emerging berry category in the new role of berry category director.

In his position, Mr Quinn will oversees all aspects of the company’s berry business, from global sourcing to exporting to marketing.

Currently, Oppenheimer’s category consists of berries grown in the US, Canada, Chile, Argentina and Mexico, including Ocean Spray Fresh-branded cranberries and blueberries.

“Mr Quinn has played an instrumental role in strategically developing our berry business over the last several years,” said Josh Leichter, Oppenheimer’s East Coast sales vice-president, in a press release.

“Berries are an exciting category with significant potential for Oppenheimer and for our growers and customers. Mr Quinn’s expertise will enable us to dedicate even greater efforts to this key area.”

Mr Quinn was promoted from the role of berry category manager to his new position in mid-June after holding a series of roles since joining Oppenheimer as a marketing assistant in 1995.

Mr Quinn’s primary areas of focus will be on building Ocean Spray cranberry distribution not only in North America but also via increased European exports, as well as developing a year-round availability of Ocean Spray blueberries.

Oppenheimer recently began marketing blackberries from Mexico – a product which Mr Quinn believes has considerable growth opportunity as well.
