Avocados

The president of the Chilean Hass Avocado Committee, Adolfo Ochagavía, has reportedly denied suggestions that his Committee could join forces with its counterpart in Peru to promote the two countries’ avocados on the US market.

Earlier this week, Arturo Medina, general manager for the Peruvian Hass Avocado Producers Association (ProHass) told reporters that Chile and Peru may unite efforts to offer an alternative 12-month supply to Mexico on the US avocado market.

Speaking with SimFRUIT, Mr Ochagavía said such an alliance had not been discussed, adding that any joint efforts would be for the exporters themselves to decide upon.

Mr Ochagavía did not, however, rule out future joint participation between the Chilean avocado exporters and other global suppliers.
