Ahold

Netherlands-based retailer Ahold has announced that Dick Boer has been appointed chief executive officer of Ahold, effective March 2011 when John Rishton leaves the company to become CEO of Rolls-Royce plc.

Mr Boer, who joined the group in 1998, will step up from his position as chief operating officer at Ahold Europe and as a member of the corporate executive board.

As a result, Ahold's corporate executive board will, from March 2011, comprise Dick Boer, Kimberly Ross and Lodewijk Hijmans van den Bergh.

Sander van der Laan, currently general manager of Albert Heijn in the Netherlands, will replace Dick Boer as COO of Ahold Europe, the group said.

Meanwhile, Ahold USA Retail CEO Carl Schlicker has been appointed as COO of Ahold USA, assuming the role when Larry Benjamin retires in early 2011.
