Orient Overseas Container Line has reported that total group revenues climbed 65 per cent through the third quarter of the year, up to US$1.57bn from the US$948.9m recorded last year.

The Hong Kong-based shipping group said in its results announcement that total volumes were up 16 per cent on the same period of 2009, hitting 1.2m TEU of cargo from 1.1m TEU last year.

With a 10.4 per cent increase in loadable capacity, the overall load factor was 3.9 per cent better than the same period last year, while overall average revenue per TEU increased by 42.6 per cent.

For the first nine months of 2010, ended 30 September, total volumes increased by 13.1 per cent over the same period last year, while total revenues recorded growth of 47.8 per cent.
