Nunhems Idaho facility

Global vegetable specialist Nunhems, a subsidiary of Bayer CropScience, has opened a new vegetable seed facility in the US, with the aim of carrying out much of the company's onion and carrot seed processing, packaging and storage.

To mark the launch of the facility, which is located in Parma, Idaho, state governor Butch Otter and Lieutenant governor Brad Little joined Nunhems employees, customers and suppliers at an opening ceremony.

The project, which has taken nearly three years from planning to construction, came at a cost of US$30m and doubles the size of Nunhems' existing campus to 60 acres.

'This expansion is a significant investment in the future of both Nunhems and Idaho,' said Nunhems CEO Douwe Zijp. 'It is an example of our constant commitment to improving our technology and operations in order to provide our customers with the best possible seed.'
