Emirates SkyCargo has been handed the prestigious title of Air Cargo Carrier of the Year at the 2010 IFW Awards, marking the fifth time that Emirates has landed the title after successes in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008.

The cargo division of Dubai-based Emirates Airline held off competition from five other carriers including British Airways, Lufthansa and American Airlines to win the award, which was voted for by the online cargo journal International Freighting Weekly.

'To win this prestigious award for a fifth time is a great honour and a powerful endorsement of our service,' said Ram Menen, Emirates divisional senior vice-president of cargo.

Emirates SkyCargo continues to increase its network of destinations across the globe, recently commencing freighter services to Almaty, Bagram and Sao Paulo, with the carrier's network standing at 108 cities in 65 countries.
