The final day of the Business Forum atFreshconex 2011, which takes place in Berlin on9-11 February 2011, willfocus on the latest trends and innovations in the fresh produce convenience sector.

Highly perishable fresh produce demands ongoing technical innovations for processing, packaging, refrigeration and logistics, andthese new challenges ahead, as well as the advanced solutions needed to master them, will be discussed by experts in their Business Forum presentations.

The presentation 'Understanding today's global produce safety landscape' focuses on increasing the awareness of this important topic. Food safety is essential in today's food business, andthis is especially true in the fresh convenience sector where perishable products need to be handled with utmost care from the field to the supermarket shelf. Food safety expert Dave Gombas from the United Fresh Produce Association (US) will talk about the industry's biggest challenges and outline some practical solutions.

Other Business Forum topics on the final dayinclude 'Next steps for packaging technology in fresh produce convenience', 'Securing improvements in the logistics chain for fresh produce convenience', and 'Distribution chain and traceability solutions for the fresh-cut convenience sector'.

In addition to the wide variety of products and services presented at Europe's unique international trade fair for fresh produce convenience, the Business Forum -located in Hall 7.2a of the Berlin Exhibition Grounds-presents the latest information and current trends in this growth market in a series of compact, half-hour presentations by high-calibre industry experts.

Topics covered on the first and second day of the trade fair include 'Developing new market opportunities for foodservice' (9 February) and 'New opportunities in marketing for fresh produce convenience' (10 February).
