Shipping company Maersk has placed an order with South Korea's Daewoo for ten of the largest and most fuel-efficient container vessels ever built.
The Danish firm has signed a contract that includes an option for another 20 Triple-E ships. The first ten should be delivered between 2013 and 2015.
The Triple-E class can carry 2,500 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEU) more than the biggest container vessel on the water today.
Maersk claims its innovative design will reduce CO2 emissions per TEU by 50 per cent.
