NOL APL ship

Singapore's Neptune Orient Lines announced on Monday it shipped 12 per cent more cargo in the four weeks to March 11 compared to the prior year period, reports Reuters.

The group, which ranks as the world's sixth-largest container shipping firm, said higher traffic on intra-Asia and Asia-Europe routes helped lift its volumes.

NOL carried 212,700 forty-foot equivalent units (FEUs) during the four-week period, up from 189,100 FEUs a year ago.

According to Reuters, the average revenue per FEU fell 1 percent to US$2,560 per FEU from US$2,575 last year, hit by falling rates on Asia-Europe routes.
