Peru Port of Callao North Quay

The Peruvian administration is reportedly scrutinising the concession of the Port of Callao’s Terminal Muelle Norte (North Quay) to Dutch group APM Terminals.

The incoming government has warned that the contract could be renegotiated if it regards any clauses of the agreement not to be in the interests of the South American nation, according to a report by Port Strategy.

Politicians are apparently particularly concerned by the 17 per cent level of profits payable to Enapu – Peru’s leading port operator.

APM Terminals commenced operations at the new Callao North Terminal on 1 July.

APM Terminals has said it will invest US$307m in the first and second stages of its modernisation project at the terminal.
