MFC Piazza Italia Asia Fruit Logistica 2011

Italian companies working in the fresh produce sector were present in greater number than ever at this year's Asia Fruit Logistica, the annual trade fair which took place in Hong Kong on 7-9 September.

For the first time, Italy was second only to China in terms of the number of companies present, with its 28 individual exhibitors overtaking the US, which had 26 companies taking part.

This year also saw the first appearance at Asia Fruit Logistica of Piazza Italia – a mainstay of Fruit Logistica in Berlin – as marketing and trade organisation CSO teamed up with industry consortium Mediterranean Fruit Company (MFC) to back a joint presence at the show.

'The idea was to launch in Asia the lucky Piazza Italia model we use in Berlin,' commented Federico Milanesi, director of MFC, 'and this year we've taken the first steps in that direction.'

This year, Piazza Italia was home to a total of 11 co-exhibitors, including fresh produce companies Alegra, Apofruit, Made in Blu, Naturitalia and Salvi, as well as packaging, technology and logistics firms Infia, Sativa, Teco, Turroni, Tramaco and Unitec.
