PakSense Label

Intelligent sensing products developer, PakSense, has released the XpressPDF - a small and easy to use temperature-monitoring device.

According to a media release from the company, the device is similar in size to a sugar sachet and features a USB connection point that plugs directly into a computer. Once connected the label automatically generates a PDF data file containing time and temperature history, including graph and summary statistics.

The flat and waterproof label enables cold chain monitoring of pallets, cartons and individual items, and its size means packaging modifications are not required.
The labels can operate independently and are suited to fresh produce exports or deliveries from distribution centres to retail locations.

“XpressPDF is the easiest to use, most versatile temperature monitoring device on the market today,” said PakSense CEO David Light. “Low infrastructure and ease-of-use for the customer were paramount when we designed this product. Cold chain simplicity is what we have created.”

The labels take a surface reading of the article they are attached to and provide a closer approximation of actual product temperatures compared to ambient readers, the media release stated. Light emitting diodes in the label flash to indicate a temperature excursion and prompt the user to download full cold chain data via the USB connection.

Data from the labels can be uploaded to almost any third party logistics database via the PakSense Device Interface SDK.

The labels feature a temperature sensor that is calibrated to NIST standards.
