Rijk Zwaan China launch 2011

Rijk Zwaan has launched a second breeding station in China, based in Guilin and focusing on the development of vegetables for the southern part of the country.

The breeding station was officially opened on 21 November, and is located in the Guangxi province in the southern part of the country.

Rijk Zwaan has been active in China for nearly 15 years and has already established a head office and breeding station in Qingdao, Shandong.

'The southern part of China plays an important role in our expansion strategy,' said managing director Marco van Leeuwen. 'In Guilin we can develop and test varieties specifically for this region.

'Combined with our growing advice, in cooperation with our distributors, we want to develop and increase profitable vegetable production for the benefit of farmers and other stakeholders in the vegetable chain,' he added.
