Maersk has today announced the appointment of Omar Shamsie, managing director of Maersk Line East Africa in Kenya, as the new country manager for Malaysia and Singapore

Mr Shamsie wil be responsible for the development and execution of strategy in both countries, overseeing sales, operations and customer service, the groupsaid in a statement.

Based in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia, Mr Shamsie will report directly to Jesper Praestengaard, chief executive for Maersk Line Asia Pacific.

Mr Shamsie has over 20 years of experience having held various international management positions in the shipping and logistic industry. Prior to his role at Maersk East Africa, he held the role of managing director at both Maersk Egypt and Maersk Iran.
