Argentinean Blueberry Committee

The Argentinean Blueberry Committee (ABC) has apparently rolled out a series of changes in a bid to improve the organisation’s representation of the country’s blueberry industry.

The committee has overhauled its member application process by cutting from 500 tonnes to 250 tonnes the required minimum annual export total for members, according to a report by Fresh Fruit Portal.

“In this way there will be more members that can participate actively in the Board of Directors,” explained ABC manager Inés Peláez.

In addition, ABC has established an Advisory Council, which comprises regional blueberry grower associations from across Argentina, to act as a voice for the national industry.

The council also paves the way for representation of the blueberry processing or frozen sector in Argentina as well as fresh suppliers, given the growth in the country’s frozen blueberry exports.
