German retailer Metro Cash & Carry recently opened a store in Shanghai’s Jiading district. The opening was the company’s third this year in China and brings the total number of stores it operates there to 55.

The Shanghai Daily reported Metro intends to open a total of 10 stores in China by year-end. Over the next three to four years the company hopes to double store numbers in a bid to strengthen its position in the booming Chinese retail sector, the newspaper reported.
