Maersk hikes India-West Africa rates
Two months on from last increase, Maersk will again hike rates on its India-West Africa routes
Danish shipping giant Maersk Line has announced further rate hikes on routes from India to West Africa.
Cargo costs will increase by US$200 per TEU and US$350 per FEU and take effect on 1 September.
“While we are continuously endeavouring toward serving customers to the best of our capabilities, current rates are proving difficult to sustain, especially in the prevailing market scenario,” Maersk India wrote in a media release.
The most recent rate hike comes on top of a US$100 per TEU increase on routes from India to West Africa on 15 May.
