Mango growers in Pakistan’s Sindh region are hoping to see increased export opportunities for their fruit in the high-end European market, according to the Business Recorder.

Sindh-grown Sindhri mangoes are set to enter the Dutch market this season, after the Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Company, in collaboration with Agricultural Services Linkages Programme, dispatched two containers of the fruit to the Netherlands from Karachi last week.

The consignment was prepared under the supervision of Peter Johnson from the Department of Agriculture and Food Australia.

More than 60 tonnes of Sindh mangos have now been sent to Europe this season, following two successful shipments to the UK.

The Sindh Mango Growers' Association have expressed their satisfaction with this season’s European export programme, saying it will pave the way for more trade in the future and bring employment to the area.
